will.i.am compares Miley to Bjork; get ready to slip on banana peels

0
0

"Touching down in Australia, Will.i.am's first port of call was to meet TheFIX's Amy Nelmes to talk about his new album "#willpower", enrolling in MIT University this September to study computer science (erm, woah) and how the new Miley Cyrus album is going to blow our minds.

Q: You worked with Miley Cyrus on your new album, how was that?
A: With Miley, it was a bit of a merger. I heard this wonderfulness bleeding through the doors and a friend of mine, Dr Luke said to come and listen. And I was like, who is that? He just said, "keep listening" and then he said, "guess who it is?" I was like, Bjork. Nope. Is it Portishead coming back?... It was Miley Cyrus. Then Miley walks in the room and I was like, this sh*t is fresh, we have to collaborate. Then she got on and added her vocals for Fall Down.

Q: So, we're going to be shocked by her new album?
A: Maybe I'm over hyping it. I hope I'm not. But from what I heard, it was freaking bananas. Banana peels, you're slipping on."

"Married To Jonas" Season 2 Episode 3 recap + preview for next week

0
0

"While a lot happened on Married to Jonas season 2 episode 3, we can't help but focus our recap on Kevin and Danielle Jonas' fight.

To back up, Dani was pretty excited by a job opportunity at Cosmo, but taking the gig would mean missing out on hanging with the Jonas Brothers on tour.

What's a girl to do? And what did Kevin think about it?

Kev's reaction was 100 percent selfish, as he wasn't all that thrilled that she could possibly be ditching him while on tour.

We were happy to follow along with Kevin's live tweets during the episode, where he explained that watching it now, he realizes he was kind of a jerk to Dani.

He had some sweet things to say during the episode, tweeting: "so proud of @daniellejonas" and "you killed that meeting @daniellejonas"

When Dani sat down with him during the episode to talk things out and Kevin gave her grief about missing the tour, he tweeted: "I'm a jerk...sorry babe," adding, "sometime [sic] you make mistakes and you relies [sic] you are being selfish in the relationship. i guess you are just going to have to tune in next week"

Ugh, we have to wait?!"

Selena Gomez'"Come And Get It" video premieres TONIGHT

0

"If you aren't sure what the title of Selena Gomez's new single "Come & Get It" is all about, you're not alone. It's a phrase TV parents shout to indicate that dinner is on the table, so some fans might find the meaning a tad confusing.

But not to worry, because when Gomez premieres her music video for the track during "MTV First: Selena Gomez" tonight (May 7) at 7:53 p.m. on MTV, followed by a sit-down interview on MTV.com, we promise that food will be the last thing on your mind. In the sexy new vid, Selena sheds her good-girl image (and quite a bit of clothing), revealing a more sensual side we haven't seen in the star's music previously."

While it's a different look for Selena, the transformation is nothing new in the world of pop. Taylor Swift recently showed an edgier side on her latest album Red, and she sent her seal of approval for Gomez's new music in a video message, in which she's getting down to one of her pal's tracks.

"She's so great! She sent me a video and she's, like, dancing. She's like the cutest dancer, because she has this little ponytail and her little bangs, and she's like just the cutest thing in the world," Gomez told MTV News during the sit-down. "She's the best. She's supported me from my first record to this one, and she's heard all of my stuff, so she's really sweet."

And even though Selena's current focus is on her own project, she's no stranger to Disney bestie Demi Lovato's musical growth. "I love it," she said when asked what she thought about Lovato's song "Heart Attack." "The one thing I appreciate about Demi is that she has her own individual style, and that's something she's wanted to remain no matter where she is, and I definitely love that and admire that about her."

Don't miss the premiere of "Come & Get It" during "MTV First: Selena Gomez," airing on MTV tonight at 7:53 p.m. ET, followed by a sit-down interview on MTV.com!"

The two Disney starlets stopped by the Proactiv vending machine to get some new products.

While picking up their products, Peyton and Stefanie were both asked for their autographs by a young fan. How cute!

“Had so much fun with my girl Stefanaynay @stefaniescott! #blondechickas,” Peyton tweeted."

Selena Gomez - first look at her InStyle Interview

0
0

Talk about a crossroads: Selena Gomez is going through a transition in every element of her superstar life. For music, she insists her newest, most revealing album Stars Dance—already boasting the hit single “Come and Get It,” the video for which just debuted on MTV.com—will be her last. For acting, she’s eager to shake her Disney past and establish herself as an actress with serious cred. And in love, despite a Bieber breakup ballad on her record, the pair are indeed back together, and seem to be tighter than ever (as this photo shows). Now, she’s opening up and not holding anything back about her exciting life changes in InStyle’s June magazine. Here are five things you’ll learn in the new issue, on sale newsstands and available for tablet download starting May 17.

Editor’s Note: The following is excerpted from the Selena Gomez cover story, “Gear Shift” by Laurie Sandall, which originally appears in InStyle’s June 2013 issue.

1. HER #1 PRIORITY AT THIS MOMENT: PUSHING BOUNDARIES

Just shy of her 21st birthday (on July 22), Gomez is actively stirring the pot a little as she seeks bold life and career changes. “This is a weird transition for me,” she says. “I want to keep pushing myself so I never feel settled. I don’t really know if it’s going to end up working. I’m stressed out most of the time.” Gomez would like to eventually say so long to music to concentrate solely on acting. She imagines a career modeled on stars like Shia LaBeouf, Jennifer Lawrence, and Natalie Portman—actors who are continually reinventing themselves, she says. (LaBeouf, she is quick to point out, also started on the Disney Channel. Gomez starred for five years on megahit series Wizards of Waverly Place.)

2. HER ALBUM INCLUDES A SONG ABOUT BIEBER. YES, IT’S TRUE.

“Love Will Remember,” a song off her new album, Stars Dance, will have every one of her followers obsessively analyzing the lyrics, thanks to her tabloid-scrutinized split from pop-superstar boyfriend Justin Bieber at the end of last year. Especially now that the duo was reportedly spotted kissing in Norway in April, right around the time that Bieber posted then quickly removed a shot of himself with Gomez on Instagram. The ballad mournfully chronicles the end of a relationship, and Gomez makes it crystal clear that she did indeed write it about Bieber. As she sings, pondering what went wrong, the listener is left with the sense that it may not have been her idea to end things—or that it might have been hers, but it was because he left her no choice. “That’s the most personal track on the record, for sure,” she says. “I think it’s a sweet way of releasing it. It’s not an aggressive approach to what people are probably expecting.” She pauses, then quietly adds, “I’m sure he’ll love it too.” The song is both heartfelt and calculated, an unquestionably provocative move by the star.

3. WHAT IT’S REALLY LIKE TO DATE IN THE SPOTLIGHT

“I’m from Texas, so I should be married with children already,” she says with a smile. “I’m in love with love and totally believe in marriage, but that’s not even on my radar right now. I am not putting energy into dating.” And who can blame her? Going out with Bieber, who, at 19, is one of the biggest stars in the world, was “crazy and very intense,” she says. Splitting up was even harder, and their recent potential rekindling once again ratchets up the pressure. “It’s uncomfortable that everywhere I go, people know,” she says. “I don’t like that. But Justin and I never really focused on the attention. You can’t help who you date. So I wouldn’t swear off that or say that’s what I want again. I don’t know. I’m a kid, and a breakup is normal. I have to go through the emotions and feel it out. I’m doing my own thing, being with my friends, and he’s doing very well too.” When asked what she’ll look for in a future partner, she’s quick to respond. “Honesty. You have to have honesty when you’re living this lifestyle because of the distance imposed when working—you are separated so often. You have to be super-honest and open. That is key.”

4. HER FRIENDS ARE AWESOME, LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT

She’s close to Taylor Swift, who she says is “like a sister to me. We dated the Jonas Brothers at the same time and ended up becoming best friends. She’s the one I call when I’m having any sort of sadness. She’s very nurturing and protective.” Swift is proud of the way her pal has navigated triumphs and trouble spots alike. “I’ve known Selena through some of the most important years of both of our lives,” says Swift. “I’ve seen her grow up gracefully and gradually in spite of all the pressure on her. Selena has learned to make and follow her own rules, when to take a chance on projects that are out of her comfort zone, and when to walk away when something isn’t right. She’s living life on her terms.”

5. SHE LOVES TO MAKE (AND MODEL) FASHION

Her Kmart fashion line, Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez has been successful, thanks to her push to make cute clothes for good prices. “I remember when I was younger and kids in school would be wearing $40 sweaters and other things I couldn’t buy,” she says. “I wanted to make a line that was supercute and affordable, things a 12-year-old could wear and I could wear too.” She also co-designs a sports-inspired line, Adidas Neo Label. When Gomez is not creating fashion, she’s experimenting with it on red carpets. Lately she has been favoring Dolce & Gabbana and Versace. “I’m on the petite side and I don’t think I’m curvy, but maybe I’ll grow into it,” she says. “I like to wear things that are fitted because they give me more shape.” As for pushing boundaries on a fashion level—it’s also on her To Do list. “I like to show a little bit of skin in a nice way,” she says. “The idea of trying to get on a best-dressed list stresses me out. I’m so nervous. I love picking out clothes, and it would be a blast to just play dress-up all the time.”

Fore even more Selena, make sure to pick up the issue on newsstands and available for download starting May 17.

The 27-year-old actress chatted with the glossy about comedy, her production company and keeping her friends close. Check it:

On bonding in the business: “I love to see what my friends do. I love creating these little families everywhere I go. There aren’t a lot of people in this business who are very supportive. It’s awesome that we still have that bond.”

On Scary Movie 5: “Comedy is one of my favorite things to do. It’s very different for me. Molly Shannon is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. She’s hilarious. There’s a scene I filmed with Molly in the background in a bathroom stall. She’s like making these, uh, noises. I laughed every single time. There’s only one take that I didn’t laugh, and that’s the one that’s in the movie.”

Demi Lovato records with Cher Lloyd

Demi Lovato has collaborated with Cher Lloyd.

English rapper and singer Cher said she was instantly attracted to working on 'Really Don't Care' with Demi, because it stood out against most other pop songs.

Speaking to MTV, Cher said:''First of all, I love the song. Like, I really love the song. And I was very excited to put my kind of twist on it.

''I mean, that girl can really sing, and it's so different. That's the thing, nowadays it's so important to be able to be recognised and to be on the radio and for people to know automatically it's you. And Demi has that and that's something I really look up to.''

The 19-year-old singer - who hit the charts in 2011 with her single 'Swagger Jagger' - added she and Demi are a great pairing because they have so much in common.

She explained:''I think me and Demi are in some ways kind of similar. We have quite a young fanbase and this is very much a girl power song. You know, it has a great feel to it, and I'm so excited that people get to hear it now.''

Cher is also collaborating on another track called 'It's All Good' with Ne-Yo.

She said: ''We're just working towards getting a great summer vibe-y track going. Me and Ne-Yoare very much in charge of this whole process, you know, the musical side of it.''

'Demi', featuring 'Really Don't Care', will be available in the UK from May 13.

Entertainment Weekly reveals "DEMI"

0
0

Demi Lovato sees your early release, Vampire Weekend, and she… well, she doesn’t raise you, she’s just doing it also.
The teen starlet turned hard-knocks graduate and general multimedia juggernaut has put her new album, Demi, online a week in advance of its official May 14 street date. Read our review from the magazine on stands this Friday below.
Demi Lovato, Demi (Hollywood)
Unlike other ex–Disney princesses, Demi Lovato knows that growing up means more than just being old enough to do Jell-O shots. And two years ago, she proved it with her third album, Unbroken, which found her singing about self-cutting and abuse with a bravery that felt very adult. Since then, she’s also proved herself as the most mature judge on The X Factor. (Though, to be fair, Simon “Gonna Wear V-Neck T-Shirts Till I Die” Cowell and Britney “Just Smile Pretty” Spears weren’t major competition.) So it’s too bad that her new album, Demi, sounds like such a decisive return to teen pop. Transformed from an edgier young woman back into America’s sweetheart, she’s doing the fallen-Disney-idol thing in reverse.
Most of Lovato’s musical influences aren’t old enough to rent a car. The beach-ball bounce of “Something That We’re Not” could’ve been swiped from a One Direction album, and “Made in the USA” has Miley Cyrus’ name written all over it in lipstick. Worse yet, some lyrics yank back the curtain to expose the older songwriters behind these songs. Why is Lovato asking some guy to “take me home like you’re DiMaggio”? Wasn’t A-Rod available? Even the confessionals, like the pretty piano ballad “In Case,” don’t reveal much beyond the usual lovesick-girl struggles. It’s as if some PR rep went through her lyrics with a Sharpie, eliminating anything too personal, subbing
in words like “you” and “me” and “baby.” Eventually that Sharpie must’ve crossed out so much, it erased Lovato herself. C+—Melissa Maerz

It's a PLL Post! Hanna and Caleb Get a 'Casablanca' Goodbye + More!

605_haleb_640

"Pretty Little Liars has staged sensational surprises in nearly every single episode over the last three seasons, but the biggest shocker to date happened off screen as it was announced on April 30 that ABC Family's recently announced spin-off was bringing Tyler Blackburn's Caleb along for the Ravenswood ride.

Now, for the first time, PLL executive producer and Ravenswood co-creator Marlene King is exclusively revealing why Hanna's hottie was tapped to front the new series."

"In terms of the mythology of Ravenswood, there is a reason his character was chosen," King tells ETonline. "Caleb has an ambiguous past. He doesn't know as much about where he comes from compared to the other [characters] and we're going to use that as we unfold the Ravenswood story."

Once fans got over the initial shock, thoughts -- and Twitter trending topics -- immediately turned to the following question: "OMG!!! What does this mean for Haleb?!?!?!?!" Turns out, Ashley Benson had the exact same thought after finding out her scene partner was packing up his laptop and amazing conditioner.

"I was so sad," Benson recalled of hearing the big news. "This is the thing, I'm so happy for Tyler, he deserves it so much, but he's like my other half! He's just amazing. When the day comes to shoot his last scene, I'm not going to be able to do it. I mean, I don't want to give him away to these other people. But, I talked to Marlene about [how Caleb will be written off PLL] and I'm excited for people to see that because I'm pretty happy with how she told me their story would end."

So what did Marlene tell Ashley? You know I got that answer. "Hanna and Caleb are such a great couple and we've designed this beautiful Casablanca moment for them," King teased. "Hanna really gives Caleb permission to leave Rosewood and, basically, go to this other show [laughs]. I hope our fans embrace it as much as we've embraced it as writers. That's important to us.""

Excerpt from Troian's Interview with Entertainment Tonight

ETonline: You filmed the second season of Lauren before the third season of Pretty Little Liars. Did going to such a dark place help you, as an actor, for where you had to take Spencer or did it not translate?
Bellisario: I think it was unrelated. But, it was very odd because, I don't know if I attract these types of roles or if I seek them out, but I wrapped with Spencer and wanted to do something for myself as an actor, so I signed up for this Larry Moss intensive workshop where he gave me this amazing scene from a Nicholas Kazan play called Blood Moon, and at the end of the scene, the woman I'm playing is raped. Whatever forces in the universe that you believe in was telling me that this dark area was what needed to be mined at the time. I don't know that it was directly influencing Lauren and Spencer, but there was a common thread consistently coming up in the work I was doing.

ETonline: Have you fully exorcised that after these roles, you think?
Bellisario: I don't know. Truthfully, I haven't been an actor for that long, but there is something about these women that I never want to leave. I adore doing comedy and lighter, falling-in-love roles, but I think exploring the darker side of things is going to be an undercurrent of all my work.
ETonline: You had a fair bit of time between filming the third and fourth seasons of Pretty Little Liars, but the new season picks up where the last one left off. Was it hard to jump right back into Spencer's shoes?
Bellisario: It's interesting. I think that Spencer's break with reality depended on a lot of things. So when she found out Toby was alive and there was a way to seek answers, she kind of spun herself back up into a more stable place. But what's really interesting right now for Spencer is, even though she's in a healthier place and able to take on more responsibilities and go back to her normal life, people around her are not forgetting what happened. Especially her family. And with college admissions happening, they're looking at this perfect college applicant who is really tarnished because of what she went through. This season Spencer is really struggling with the fact that Radley is very much a part of her history.

ETonline: Were you glad to see PLL wasn't wiping that away and leaving fingerprints of that experience all over her?
Bellisario: I was really, really proud. And I want to make sure this is a part of her character forever. Our show has a very quirky edge to it, so when I started to notice this mental institution was being used to say, "Uh-oh, this is where the crazy people are," I went in and spoke to Marlene [King, EP] and Oliver [Goldstick, EP] because people suffering from mental disorders is something very near and dear to my heart and close to my history, so I just wanted to make sure we never took for granted that these are human beings. And I think that might be what planted the seed for Spencer's downfall. I told them, "These people could easily be Spencer" and that kind of started conversations about how Spencer could end up there. I was glad they took it seriously and gave it a lot of gravitas.
ETonline: What are you excited for fans to see this season?
Bellisario: The world is going to become much bigger -- especially with the expansion of Ravenswood, and all these new characters that are going to be introduced into the vocabulary. I'm excited to explore what those storylines are going to weave into ours. Like every season, it goes deeper and darker and more into Ali's history, which is fascinating to me. You see the girls grow and learn and I’m excited for that.
ETonline: What was the on-set reaction to finding out Tyler Blackburn was leaving Rosewood for Ravenswood?
Bellisario: We were all really shocked. We knew that certain characters from Rosewood were going to be venturing into Ravenswood or would be finding out they were from Ravenswood, but I think we all assumed it would be newer characters, or more ancillary characters -- or maybe that's where Jenna's disappearing to all the time. So when all of a sudden we heard it was Tyler, Ashley [Benson] and I were like, "Nooooooo, that's not fair! [laughs] We want him on our show." But I'm excited to see what they do with the show.
ETonline: You say that some PLL characters will find out they're from Ravenswood -- how interconnected will the two shows be?
Bellisario: I don't know exactly how it's going to happen, but I know Toby and Spencer are going to Ravenswood in the episode we’re filming next week! I'm excited to see what that's going to turn out because it's already pretty crazy in the script."
