Demi Lovato speaks out about Cory Monteith's struggles

0

Perhaps if anyone can relate to some of Cory Monteith's struggles, it's Demi Lovato.

The Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Summer concert performer, 20 – who completed treatment for emotional and physical issues in January 2011 – opened up about substance abuse more than a year later, explaining, "Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there … Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says 'no.' That's why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me."

Now, with news of Monteith's death from a mixture of heroin and alcohol, The X Factor panelist, who launched the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program in June, hopes this tragedy will at least spread awareness.

"All it takes is one moment of vulnerability to get slipped into your addiction,"she told PEOPLE Wednesday. "He didn't choose to die. It was the disease. It can creep up on you at any moment. It only takes one moment of relapse to potentially die. It's really scary, but I'm really hoping that from this, people are able to see this is a very, very, very dangerous disease."

The "Made in the U.S.A." singer, who says she deals with her issues daily, acknowledges she can't do the same things as the friends she considers "normies."

"They can turn 21 and have their turn-21st-birthday," she says. "I don't think that I – I just don't put myself in those situations where I'm going to be at those 21st birthdays. I don't go to clubs. I just know it's something I can't do without being triggered. And that's okay."

Lovato, whose heart is "really, really broken" over the fallen Glee star, 31, says she especially feels for his girlfriend, Lea Michele.

"The main person in my thoughts is Lea," Lovato says. "I am praying for her so hard and I love her so much. I'm wishing her a lot of strength right now."

Fans of Monteith's may make donations in his name to three charities that were especially important to him: Project Limelight Society, which exposes youth living in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside to the arts; Virgin Unite, founded to support entrepreneurial efforts to better the world; and Chrysalis, which helps homeless and low-income individuals find employment.

Following the debut of Teen Beach Movie, Disney Channel will preview the new comedy Liv and Maddie two months before it officially launches.

Liv and Maddie centers on 15-year-old identical twins Liv and Maddie Rooney (played by Dove Cameron), their younger brothers Joey (Joey Bragg) and Parker (Tenzing Norgay) and parents Pete (Benjamin King) and Karen (Kali Rocha).

The sneak preview will debut at 9:45 p.m. July 19, and The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts a scene from the episode. Liv and Maddie officially will premiere at 8 p.m. Sept. 15. (The first episode will be available Sept. 9 on Disney Channel on-demand and Watch Disney Channel.)

In the preview episode, Liv and Maddie reunite when Liv returns to Wisconsin after starring on a successful musical TV show in Hollywood. The Rooney sisters realize their opposing personalities put their bond to the test. While their parents play referee between the cool, confident Liv and the smart, athletic Maddie, their brothers capitalize on the chaos.

The clip features the sisters discussing their high school crushes -- and the likelihood of a cute boy asking one of them to the school dance that weekend. As the scene depicts, twin siblings know everything about each other.

Selena Gomez Q&A with People.com

Selena Gomez, 21, gets personal on her first studio album, Stars Dance and chatted with PEOPLE about "one last thing" ...

Last time I apologized
I pulled into our gate and accidentally hit our trash cans, so I texted my mom that I was sorry. I got a new car, so I'm still trying to figure out how to work it!

My last indulgence
I rented a big party bus and took my friends to Disneyland. We ate a lot: turkey legs, corn on the cob, churros, pickles and corn dogs! But we walked it off going through the park.

Last time you were starstruck
I met Bradley Cooper and I don't even remember what I said – that's how embarrassed I was. I wanted to say he was a great actor, but he blinded me with his eyes.

Last moment of bliss.
Probably last night. I'm a relatively new big sister [Gracie Elliot was born June 13], but it's the best thing ever. My bliss is coming home and seeing her after I have been working.

Jonas Brothers grow up in a new pop-culture landscape

0
0

"The pop-culture landscape is a different world than it was three years ago. Back then, the Jonas Brothers were at the top of the boy-band heap, with a sitcom (“Jonas”/“Jonas L.A.”), a TV-movie franchise (“Camp Rock”), and a successful concert film to their name, on top of a recording career that saw them delivering albums at a reliable rate of one every year.

Then things seemed to stop. The television show was canceled and the band split from longtime label Hollywood Records, both of which left the Jonas Brothers without the substantial promotional heft of Disney behind them. Perhaps more ominously, a new generation of boy bands like One Direction and solo acts like Justin Bieber filled the vacuum created by their absence. And, lest it be forgotten, the onetime kings of teen-pop are no longer teens themselves.

But Joe Jonas isn’t concerned that his group has lost touch with its core constituency. Just the opposite, in fact.

“It’s interesting to see how, going to a show, the audience has really grown up with us,” says the 23-year-old singer. “Three years is a lot, and seeing audience members with beers in their hands and things like that, it’s pretty hilarious. So it’s kind of cool to see that our fans are growing up.”

That’s where the Jonas Brothers, who play the Bank of America Pavilion on Monday, currently find themselves. The challenge facing them now is how to transition smoothly from being a Disney act to being an adult band. According to Jonas, there are pluses and minuses to their newfound freedom.

“It definitely feels good to be in control of what we want to do musically and even what we’re going to do with the stage or where we’re going to tour,” he says. “But it’s definitely a weird feeling, like starting over and repositioning ourselves musically. We got in the studio and had [younger brother] Nick produce the record and make it 100 percent just us in control of what we’re making. So that was definitely a huge change for us.”

In their favor is the fact that one recent antecedent successfully navigated a similar scenario. The teen-brother pop band Hanson quietly kept on after their apparent hit-making days were over, eventually garnering a solid critical reputation while cultivating a fan base loyal and large enough to sustain them.

“I think it’s very cool to see how they have their core audience that will follow them anywhere,” says Jonas of Hanson. “And the same for us. We have a very strong group of fans that travel cross-country to see shows. And that’s rewarding for us to see that the audience has continued to grow and grow and feeling like the fans are just getting bigger and bigger as an audience. So it’s nice.”

Dylan Sprague sees much the same thing from his vantage point as program director for Kiss 108, which is hosting a VIP acoustic performance with the Jonas Brothers at W Boston the day of the concert. “We’re excited to see how large that fan base still is, and we’re getting the inkling that it’s still very, very big,” he says. As for the group’s progression into a grown-up pop act, he doesn’t view it as a definitive break from the Jonas Brothers’ past.

“I don’t know that it’s much of a transition,” he says. “It’s just a growing process. I don’t want to put words in their mouth, but I think that they’re all in different places in their lives than they were a couple years ago. . . . I think it’s just a natural maturation for them.”

While the upcoming album “V” is the Jonas Brothers’ first as a group since 2010’s “Jonas L.A.” soundtrack, it’s not as though the brothers haven’t been busy. Joe released a club-oriented solo album, “Fastlife,” in 2011. Nick, 20, has kept up his acting career with appearances on shows like “Smash” and “Last Man Standing.” Elder brother Kevin, 25, began a reality-TV career with “Married to Jonas.” And they’ve continued to tour.

“Right now,” Joe Jonas says, “we’re plotting next year to really focus on music and working on this record and touring this record and hopefully getting to some different cities that we’ve never been to. I mean, we’ve never been to Japan, we’ve never been to Australia. And there’s fans out there, so we’d love to make our way over there.”

As for the upcoming birth of Kevin’s baby, Joe points out that it fits in snugly with the band’s album and touring cycle. “We’re really excited,” he says. “I’ll be an uncle for the first time in my life, and I’m really looking forward to it. And I think it’s somehow worked out pretty good, time-wise.”"

Miley's London Takeover - Day 2

0
0

After an insane first day of press in London, Miley gets straight into work again on her second day of promotion for We Can’t Stop. Miley held an album listening party for some press and reporters in the UK to start her day, and she also met up with some different reporters and shows to do some interviews.

Leaving her hotel

Twitpics

Album Listening Party

Natalie Edwards from the Mirror UK (@nataliesedwards):
• On my way to meet Miley Cyrus, girlcrush on her shoes, have a little chat, twerk it out and listen to some new album tracks. Good times.
• Just out of the Miley Cyrus playback. My faves are 4×4 and Drive. 4×4 is a funky country track and Drive has a fab dubstep vibe. Loves it.
• Miley is on fun form too. Looks teeny tiny in a cropped top and high waisted plaid trousers. Off to have a chat. And twerk it out.
• Lots of Miley fans asking about Wrecking Ball. Potentially is the 2nd UK single. But Miley’s now confused after we preferred Drive + 4×4!
• Wrecking Ball is Miley’s way of doing an Adele. Big strong heartfelt vocals against a big pop base courtesy of Dr Luke.

Interview with The Sun UK

If anyone doubts that Miley Cyrus has shaken off her squeaky-clean teen image they only need to meet her.

In a chat with The Sun, the 20-year-old global superstar — who first found fame in Disney kids’ show Hannah Montana aged 14 — swears repeatedly, talks about visiting sex clubs and admits her music references the rave drug ecstasy.

Walking into a conference room in a central London hotel wearing a see-through top, she shouts: “We’re in a really fishy room!” before introducing herself.

It is true — there IS a table of mini fish ’n’ chips sat nearby, and it is just the first sign that she is more outspoken than most pop stars.

First up, she talks about her controversial video for new single We Can’t Stop. It shows Miley dancing suggestively, simulating oral sex and wearing a series of barely-there outfits.

The clip broke records when it debuted online last month, getting 10.7million views in 24 hours.

“The world is in such a f***ed up place that the last thing we should be worrying about is my cute little video,” she tells me.

‘They put an X over my mouth’ Miley then starts miming the explicit moves that have been cut from the clip and uses a word we cannot print in The Sun.

She says: “They’ve edited the video here in the UK. They put a big X over my mouth ’cos I was going like ‘this’.

“No gyrating, no ***********, there was a lot less. They took out literally everything. I thought the video wasn’t bad, then MTV in the UK sent, like, 18 notes asking for changes.”

Continuing her outspoken rant, she mentions the recent Trayvon Martin trial in the US, when neighbourhood watch co-ordinator George Zimmerman was found not guilty of murdering the black teenager.

She says: “The world is so lame, they let Zimmerman off on trial and yet you can’t show this?

“People forget Britney, she did the same thing. Britney and Madonna didn’t play it safe.”

For much of her life, Miley — daughter of Achy Breaky Heart singer Billy Ray Cyrus — has been accused of going off the rails. She was 15 when provocative shots of her leaked online.

At 18 she was snapped drunk before she was legally allowed to drink alcohol in the US, and at her 19th birthday party her friends presented her with a Bob Marley birthday cake. She got up and announced: “You know you’re a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake. You know you smoke way too much f***ing weed.”

On Rihanna-like new song We Can’t Stop, Nashville-born Miley goes even further, singing about “Molly” — the US slang term for ecstasy, or MDMA.

Her producer claimed the lyrics were “dancing with Miley”, but she confirms to The Sun that it is a drug reference.

With a knowing look she admits: “It depends who’s doing what. If you’re aged ten it’s ‘Miley’, if you know what I’m talking about then you know. I just wanted it to be played on the radio and they’ve already had to edit it so much.”

Miley, who is engaged to Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth, also suggests that her hard-partying reputation is justified.

The actress and singer — who has a strangely deep voice for a young woman — says: “I don’t think people have a hard time understanding that I’ve grown up.

“You can Google me and you know what I’m up to — you know what that lyric is saying.” She plans to keep up her wild lifestyle on her three-day trip to London. When I ask if she has time to party in the UK, Miley says she is heading for The Box tonight — the shocking Soho club featuring transsexual strippers, midgets and fetish performers.

She adds: “I’ve never been to the one in London, though I’ve been to the one in New York. They G-rated it (made it less offensive). They Americanised it.”

The thought of Miley at a sex club will come as a shock to anyone who watched Hannah Montana.

Following her father into showbiz at a young age, at 11 she was cast in the Disney Channel TV series about a schoolgirl who has a secret life as a pop star.

The show, also starring her dad, quickly became the highest-rated series on US cable channels and Hannah Montana albums, films and merchandise were snapped up by the tween audience.

She called time on the phenomenon in 2011 and these days Miley has nearly 13million Twitter followers and is worth £80million. She says she has wanted to relaunch as a controversial, in-your-face pop star for years and adds: “I’m not really worried about alienating fans.

“Everyone has to work on the things that they don’t care about to get where they want to be.

“I had to do that for five years but I knew when I was older I would be able to do what I wanted eventually. Everyone has to work on something they don’t love to get to something they do love.”

Miley may be out to shock but she is refreshingly honest. I have chatted with countless US stars and they are nearly always guarded, giving journalists bland quotes and revealing nothing.

But apart from Lady Gaga, I have not interviewed a more friendly, open, American celebrity than Miley.

Yesterday she debuted her new music for journalists. As well as the single We Can’t Stop, out on August 4, she has worked with hip-hop producer Pharrell Williams and rapper Nelly on grown-up pop songs that remind you of Katy Perry and Rihanna.

To help her relaunch she has even had a shout out from the world’s biggest rapper, Jay-Z.

On the track Somewhere In America on his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail he references the bottom-shaking “twerk” dance she has become associated with.

Jay raps: “I’m still putting work in, ’cause somewhere in America Miley Cyrus is still twerkin’.”

She laughs it off, saying: “It’s dope, he’s supportive. I think he understands where I am because anyone, even Beyonce, had to go through a transition to grow up. People understand that.

“I shouted him out on my song Party In The USA — so he copied me.”

Although she asks for suggestions as to which song she should release as her next single, it is clear Miley is in the driving seat with her career.

She says: “With the video everybody had a thousand ideas about who should direct it and I already knew who my director would be.

“I had given the concept to her and said she couldn’t show my label. We’d bought the props so there was nothing they could do, it was already done.”

She adds: “Actions speak louder than words. I have nothing to prove.”

Belanger remix of Zendaya's "Replay": Listen Now

"Zendaya may be the latest Disney teen diva to make the jump from TV to the music charts, but she is by far the most promising former mouse to grace a recording studio in a long time. Zendaya is no stranger to making a big splash, she has starred in numerous Disney shows, movies, been on tour, and won multiple awards, did we mention she is only 16? While most of us were worried about the driver’s exam, Zendaya is focused about topping the music charts. Her debut single ‘Replay’ out on Hollywood Records has everything to make it happen, addictive chorus, playful 8bit feel with a glitchy edge – a proper mature single. Enter New York City’s Belanger who opens up ‘Replay’ and turns it into a expansive dancefloor banger. In place of the glitchy 8bit sounds of the original Belanger brings out sweeping synths, pulsing bassline, and a surging energy that will make you want to listen to it all day. Zendaya & Belanger are an unstoppable combination, get ready to find yourself lost in their sound."

Check out Bella Thorne on the August 2013 cover of Unleash’d!

The 15-year-old actress wore a bow back Valentino dress for the stylish ‘Blck’ Issue cover which was shot by Solmaz Saberi.

“I have absolutely no interest in a ‘Hollywood’ life style. I want to go to my friend’s school games and dances. I want to dedicate more of my time to helping kids and providing clean water across the world. I want to study as much as I can all the time,” Bella dished to the glossy about her on-screen life.

She added, “As an actress I want to use my platform to work more steadily with organizations that I feel passionate about. If fame can bring attention to those areas, that is the reason I want it so there is no struggle. I have no other motive in Hollywood.”

Disney announces a Star Wars/Phineas & Ferb crossover

0

"Add “May the Ferb be with you” to the list of relevant “Star Wars” puns, as Disney announced a crossover between the famed movie franchise and their popular cartoon, “Phineas and Ferb.”

Show creators and “Star Wars” fans Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh made the announcement today at San Diego’s Comic Con. The hour-long special episode will place the wacky main characters of the kids show in the same timeline and place as “Star Wars.”

“Phineas and Ferb,” which centers on two stepbrothers who take on grand projects during summer vacation, has done well in ratings since beginning six years ago, being the #1 animated series for kids 6-11 in primetime. In the special “Star Wars” episode, their carefree existence on “Star Wars” planet Tatooine will be disturbed when plans to destroy the Death Star unwittingly fall into their hands.

Disney has been having fun with their $4 billion purchase of LucasFilm, acquired last year. Along with producing “Star Wars 7,” they have released other “Star Wars” crossovers of existing properties. They’ve unveiled pins combing characters from their “Cars” universe with “Star Wars” characters, and figurines of “The Muppets” doing the same thing.

Fans of the popular Square Enix “Kingdom Hearts” video game series, which features Disney worlds and characters, have speculated a “Star Wars” addition to the upcoming third game, and game designer Tetsuya Nomura has expressed interest in the idea.

The “Star Wars” episode will air next year on the Disney Channel and Disney XD."

Demi Lovato didn't want to be in the Made In the USA video

0
0

"Demi Lovato can now add another accolade to her long list of accomplishments: director.

On Wednesday, the singer premiered the video for her patriotic pop song "Made in the USA," the second single from her latest album, Demi.

The video, which she co-directed alongside Ryan Pallotta, follows the tale of a young couple — played by "Friday Night Lights" actress Aimee Teegarden and "90210" actor Dustin Milligan — whose classic American romance starts off innocent and pure, but is shortly put to the test as Milligan's character is sent off to war.

When MTV News recently caught up with Lovato, whose "Heart Attack" clip is nominated for Best Female Video at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, she revealed that the idea for "Made in the USA" has been long in the works.

"I was listening to it, and that's what came to mind. There was no reason, it was just something in my mind while I was listening to the song," Lovato said backstage at Philadelphia's Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Summer concert."And I knew it was going to be my next single from my album and this is what I do: If I know what my next single is, I'm immediately thinking of the concept. I wanted it to look like a short film."

With its cinematic look and in-depth story line, many Lovatics might have been surprised that Lovato — who acts as a soundtrack to their love story, appearing only in performance shots — didn't cast herself as the leading lady.

"I want people to connect with the characters, and I actually didn't want to be in it at all," Lovato admitted."I wanted to be all behind the camera, and then my label and everyone was like, 'You have to be in the video, it's your song.' So, I was like, 'Alright, fine, I'll be in the video.' And that's why it's just a few performance shots, and I also wanted to tie the performance into how they met."

Staying behind the camera instead of in front of it gave Lovato the chance to focus heavily on her newfound passion for directing, which was impressively demonstrated through the entire video, especially during what Lovato calls one of her favorite scenes to shoot.

"When he was fighting in Afghanistan, the shots are really close up on his face, and he is hiding behind something, and he is fully loaded, and he's in the middle of a war, and it was really great," Lovato said. "Dustin is such a good actor, and he was crying, and there were bombs going off and everything. That was just the coolest scene because that scene looks like it's from a movie, so I was really excited."

Lovato, who said she wants to continue to direct music videos not only for herself, but for other artists, told us there was one scene that knew she had to perfect: the moment the war-torn couple reunites.

"That shot really had everyone's attention, and if it doesn't come across the right way, it takes the emotion out of it. I really wanted to draw emotion from people, so I'm really, really glad it turned out the way it did," Lovato explained. "Because my mom cried, my sister cried, and I was like, 'Yes!' "

Maia Mitchell talks about learning to surf & filming in Puerto Rico

0
0

The young Australian actress is making her debut in a lead role in Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie, which premieres on Friday at 8 p.m. Mitchell stars alongside Ross Lynch as McKenzie and Brady, teen surfers who somehow end up in a ‘60s beach-party musical movie called Wet Side Story, where they join in on the film’s song and dance numbers.

While the role required a lot of surfing, Mitchell tells The Hollywood Reporter that she didn’t know how prior to the role. To prepare for the part, she says, “They told me I had the role and the next day, they had me everyday with a surf trainer.”

Mitchell adds, “Then [I had] a personal trainer for body strength because I couldn’t even do a push-up. I couldn’t even get up on the board.”

The Fosters star, who grew up listening to singer-songwriters and playing acoustic guitar, says it was a learning experience to record a different kind of musical genre.

“I never thought I would be recording on any professional level so to be doing a rockabilly, Motown, pop soundtrack in a L.A. studio was completely bizarre and amazing,” Mitchell says about recording songs for the Disney Channel TV musical.

The movie’s soundtrack, which was released Tuesday, features 12 songs inspired by surf rock, pop, rockabilly and Motown R&B.

With the film set in Puerto Rico, Mitchell says the scenic environment made her experience of filming on the island all the more memorable.

“We shot so much of the film outside so what you see is what you get,” says the actress. “We were by the beach everyday. It looks like a green screen because it’s ridiculously stunning. We were always saying that, ‘This is not real. This is a backdrop.’ ”

Teen Beach Movie is directed by Jeffrey Hornaday (Disney’s Geek Charming) and also stars Grace Phipps, Garrett Clayton, John DeLuca, Chrissie Fit, Jordan Fisher, Mollee Gray and Kent Boyd."

Vin Diesel & Aaron Taylor-Johnson Hint at Marvel Cinematic Universe Roles

0
0

Vin Diesel surrendered to MTV's questions about his Marvel meeting, while artfully avoiding any specific confirmations. He demonstrated that cool, gravely laugh, cautiously treading into top-secret territory at Comic-Con on Friday (July 19).

The last time Diesel came to SDCC, he was promoting a little movie called "Pitch Black." Thirteen years later, he returned to unleash some killer red-band footage from "Riddick" to a vocal Hall H crowd. While the in-depth look at Diesel's third cinematic turn as the goggle-wearing outer space badass was supercool, Twitter feeds were abuzz after he let slip a little Marvel Universe tidbit. "There is some very big news coming at the end of this month," he teased.

Will Vin Diesel Join The 'Marvel' Universe As Vision?
Well, that certainly did little to quell the rampant speculation and excitement he ignited a short while ago when he took to social media to post about his mysterious meeting with Marvel. While he was ostensibly talking with MTV News to promote his R-rated return to the "Riddick" universe, the big super-powered elephant in the room was too big to ignore.

The big, super-powered green and yellow "elephant."

"Oh God, Oh God. Wow. Uh... Hmm, uh..." he stuttered at the mention of the "M" word.

"Well, [to discuss it] in theory," he began, cautiously."I didn't know there were over eight-thousand characters in their library. Did you? Did you?! Eight-thousand characters! They were saying, 'You know, Vin, we have eight-thousand characters...' "

So, did they open up a book and say, "Which one do you want?"

"No!" he said, laughing."I mean, ya' know, I hope there's more thought than that. I mean, there's two Visions, for the record. And people know one was created by Ultron, one was created by Proctor, as you know, if you follow..."

MTV chatted with Aaron Taylor-Johnson during Comic-Con for Kick-Ass 2 and directly asked the actor on what’s going on with Quicksilver in The Avengers 2 and he didn’t even attempt to deny it, coming off with a tone that he’s in talks or perhaps even confirmed for the role.

“Oh, that’s um, I don’t think I can talk about that, but it’s definitely an exciting prospect…”

He continues, after being asked if he’s been reading up on the character:

“Yeah, it really is. [Quicksilver] has a really interesting character and background. In fact, my wife has just been out and bought the first ever cover, a really really old vintage one where it’s the first time Quicksilver’s ever been on the front cover.”

source 12

tl;dr version: Vin Diesel has gotten a part in the MCU, which will be announced at the end of the month. Speculation is that he will play Vision (which I find unlikely but w/e). Aaron Taylor-Johnson is/was supposedly the front-runner to play Quicksilver in Avengers 2, and he isn't denying that he got the part. Both of these characters remain boring.

'Teen Beach Movie' Premiere Scores 8.4 Million Views

0
0

"Disney Channel caught a wave on Friday night, raking in 8.4 million viewers for its latest original telepic, “Teen Beach Movie.”

The broadcast-level turnout made “Teen Beach” Disney Channel’s most-watched telepic in four years — and a higher number than the 7.7 million that “High School Musical” delivered in its 2006 debut.

In key kid demos, “Teen Beach” was channel’s top original telepic in nearly six years and No. 3 among all Disney Channel movies to date (behind “High School Musical 2″ and “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie”)

The strong showing is no surprise, given the months of heavy-duty promotion it received across various Mouse House outlets and other partners. The musical telepic, helmed by choreographer Jeffrey Hornaday, put a clever spin on the beach musical genre with stars Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell playing surf-loving tweens who go back in time and get trapped in a 1960s beach party pic.

Among major youth demos, “Teen Beach” easily ranks as the top cable TV telecast of the year across kids 2-11 (4.6 million/11.6 rating), kids 6-11 (3.9 million/16.5 rating) and tweens 9-14 (3.4 million/14.3 rating)."

"It was announced Saturday by David Levine, vp and general manager Disney XD Worldwide and Jeph Loeb, executive vp and head of Marvel Television at Comic-Con that "Ultimate Spider-man" was renewed for a third season."

Season three features Spider-Man joining Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk when he answers the call to become an Avenger, taking him one step closer to achieving his goal of becoming the "Ultimate Spider-Man." As he encounters threats of new villains, he enlists S.H.I.E.L.D.'s help and fights alongside additional young heroes in the Marvel Universe to face off against evil.

"Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man has struck a chord with our audience, boys and girls alike, who are transported weekly to another world where they dare to be heroes. We are excited to deliver another season of Spidey's thrilling feats and more of the Marvel Universe to fans everywhere," said Levine.

Added Loeb: "We're making the Marvel Universe even more awesome with the introductions of Cloak & Dagger, Amadeus Cho, Ka-Zar and the animated debut of Agent Venom!"

Thus far, Ultimate Spider-Man is Disney XD's top animated series in total viewership, averaging 605,000 viewers.

Ultimate Spider-Man airs Sunday mornings as part of the "Marvel Universe" block on Disney XD.
