Bella Thorne's new music is like Ke$ha + Destiny's Child

Bella Thorne may be known for her role on the Disney Channel's "Shake it Up," but the 16-year-old is saying goodbye to her Disney days for now, and saying hello to Hollywood.

Thorne has several movies lined up for 2014, including "Blended," which sees her starring alongside Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. On top of preparing for that role (she'll play Sandler's daughter), Thorne has been working on her debut album.

"I don't think people realize how much work it takes to make an album," Thorne told MTV News on Tuesday (February 11). "I'm in the studio for hours in that tiny little box and really the performing part is what I'm most excited about."

Thorne, who follows in a long list of Disney-stars-turned-musicians, is hoping to release her single in "a few months," with the album following shortly after and promises that there will be a song on the album that fits everyone's musical tastes.

"Everything is very different so it is hard to say I have some Coachella music, I have some R&B, some more Ke$ha talk-y music,"
Thorne revealed."I wanted there to be a song for everyone I don't want it to just be you hear a song on the radio and say, 'Oh that kinda sounds like Bella Thorne,' like she would sing a song like that. I want it to be so versatile and different."

Thorne, who said she's been listening to a wide variety of music to get inspiration, from Usher to Destiny's Child to Band of Horses, hints that there will be a collaboration on the album, but unfortunately for "Shake it Up" fans, it won't be with her former co-star Zendaya, at least not right now.

"I think for sure we will, she is so concentrated on her music she has really an incredible voice and she's gone so far and so into it," Thorne said. "That would just be awesome, I think especially when we are older that would just be so cool."

Ravenswood

"Ravenswood has been unfortunately axed by ABC Family after it was not renewed for a second season, according to TVLine.

The show, which was a spin-off from Pretty Little Liars, centered on “the spooky goings-on in a Pennsylvania town and starred Liars' Tyler Blackburn.”

Due to the cancellation, Ravenswood's February 4 episode, which was the final episode of the first season, was also its series finale.

Ravenswood is the first cancellation decision for ABC Family under new president Tom Ascheim, who took the reigns in December."

Miley Cyrus’ Demented ‘Bangerz’ Tour Is A Candy-Colored Thrill Ride: Opening Night Review

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

If they ever turn Spring Breakers into a musical, it would look a lot like Miley Cyrus‘ batshit crazy Bangerz tour, which kicked off in Vancouver, Canada tonight (February 14). This weird and wonderful acid trip of a concert documents the adventures of a girl that took a walk on the wild side and — much like the characters in Harmony Korine‘s mind-bending movie — decided to stay. Simply because it’s a lot more fun.

As such, the show is a wholly unselfconscious celebration of Miley 2.0. She owns all her headline-grabbing antics from 2013 (the twerking, that foam finger and those skimpy outfits) and sticks to songs on the new LP — with two notable exceptions. But let’s start at the beginning. Because I honestly can’t think of a better one in recent memory.

Bangerz opens with a projection of the 21-year-old’s face. Nothing unusual there. At least not until a giant tongue sprouts from the screen and Miley slides down it in a skimpy leotard singing “SMS (Bangerz)”. The surreal moment is made weirder still by the cast of furry friends and cartoon characters dancing merrily on stage, who help divert attention away from the fact that the song is not particularly good.

Happily, “4×4″ is and Miley performed it in fine style — strutting to the end of a runway, where she does some basic choreography but mostly just shakes her butt. After the quickest of costume changes, our heroine reappears on top of a gold-plated SUV singing Big Sean-assisted club banger “Love Money Party”. Only she doesn’t just sit there. The zero-fucks-giving pop star briefly touched herself, spread her legs in the air and perched on all fours. Because she felt like it.

The gold vehicle then drove down the runway — with Miley still serving Vegas stripper realness on the bonnet — as a giant Big Sean puppet emerged from the stage and performed his rap. Oh, and the diva eventually climbed off her fancy ride to throw money into the crowd. It’s worth the price of admission for that segment alone.

Bangerz is less entertaining, however, when the thong-aficionado tries to dial it back. After following Miley down the rabbit hole and getting a taste for her wacky antics, watching her perform album filler like “My Darlin’” and “Maybe You’re Right” at the microphone doesn’t quite cut it. Without the bells and whistles, the songs are forced to stand on their own and those two can’t. It’s a shame because she has a plenty of great material to choose from. Hannah Montana didn’t die for “The Climb” to be snubbed like this!

To the diva’s credit, it wasn’t long before she was firing on all cylinders again. The hitmaker twerked with a fluffy blue monster while singing “FU”, fired up for unofficial theme song “Do My Thang” and had everyone dancing to “#GETITRIGHT” as quirky projections of breasts and vaginas made from pieces of candy graced the big screen. Move over Lady Gaga, this is real artpop.

One of the highlights was definitely 2010 single “Can’t Be Tamed”, which Miley performed in front of a giant dog. “Adore You”, on the other hand, was an opportunity for Billy Ray’s baby to interact with the crowd on a very intimate level. There was a ‘kiss cam’ of sorts and our lovely hostess encouraged fans to make-out if they were selected. Cut to three minutes of awkward teenagers puckering up to their embarrassed friends. Car crash entertainment at its best.

By now you’re probably thinking the show couldn’t get much wilder. I thought so too until the starlet performed “Drive” (this has to be the next single) while a vignette of topless images played for punters. A couple of families left at this point but I’d say Miley would take that as a compliment.

It was time to head down the other end of the arena for a less confrontational moment. Miley joined the band for Bangerz gem “Rooting For My Baby” and country-lite covers of Outkast‘s “Hey Ya!” and Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene”. (She amusingly quipped “you stupid bitch I didn’t trust you anyway!” during the latter). The less-is-more approach worked considerably better this time and she redeemed herself vocally.

The show wound to a close with Mike WiLL Made It‘s summer smash “23″, enjoyable Michael Jackson homage “On My Own” and usually forgettable Bangerz filler “Someone Else”, which was made very memorable due to Miley performing it on a hot dog suspended above the stage. As expected, she returned for massive hits “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball” but also delighted fans with “Party In The USA”, which she sexed up by pretending to give head to a dancer dressed as Bill Clinton (see gallery above).

Bangerz isn’t a perfect show. The setlist is weighed down by duds from the new LP and there isn’t much opportunity for Miley’s voice to shine but if you just want to let your hair down for 90 minutes, this beautifully staged extravaganza is hard to beat. It’s certainly better than recent tours by fellow pop heavyweights Rihanna and Katy Perry. The ball is now in their court.

Controversial pop star pulls all the stops at Rogers Arena, misses the mark.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

VANCOUVER - Miley Cyrus is like a cheap bonbon: A pop artist in a shiny, attention-grabbing wrapper. The candy itself tastes a lot like other cheap sweets found in the pop bin. But the exterior is so gaudy to look at you can't help but notice it standing out from the rest.

It wasn't necessarily the strength of Cyrus' Bangerz that made her become one of the top newsmakers of 2013: It was the foam finger at the MTV Video Music Awards (and essentially crushing Robin Thicke's career); the appropriation of twerking; and the risqué, overtly explicit content of her post-Hannah Montana/Disney years — sex, money, drugs — coalesced into the flick of a pointy tongue and her signature "I don't give a f---" grin.

But as cheap, shiny pop candy is wont to do — especially "dangerous" treats — it sells by the crate load. And also helps to build hype for an album and tour that have been heralded as Miley's big shot at becoming not just an A-list pop superstar (which she arguably is at this point), but the A-list pop name to beat from now on.

So one couldn't help but walk into an essentially sold-out Rogers Arena for the kickoff of the Bangerz tour Friday night (on Valentine's Day, to stay on the candy tip) with a slight feeling of apprehension, and the hope that Miley could show everyone that she is not the player, she is the game itself.

Because that's exactly the point of Miley's latest outing. Like every other pop star before her, Miley is playing the game with absolute pinpoint perfection. Even shock-rocker Alice Cooper, the man who essentially invented the modern theatrical rock concert, wasn't shocked but rather awed by her tactics (or that of her marketing team, not that it makes much of a difference).

Walking into the arena Friday night, it was plain to see that Cyrus' influence is wide: Fans young and old lined the concourse, packed the front of merch tables, with the mid-20s crowd decked in club gear, downing more than their share of bubbly alcoholic beverages. Things were about to get "turnt up" in here, to borrow one of Miley's favourite lines (pun intended).

Speaking of lines, some were indeed blurred.

While the room was adorned with strings of party balloons, the vibe was certainly not children-friendly (and the crowd consisted of many).

It was actually disturbing to see kids and parents clutching posters of Cyrus sporting an essentially crotchless unitard or wearing T-shirts showing her making out with herself in a mirror. There were also inflatable bananas on sale (we'll let you figure that one out yourself).

The evolution of pop? Female empowerment? Mindless fun? Please.

Capitalism at work.

But on with the show, right?

Swedish duo Icona Pop had the task of setting up the stage, something they did rather well, working up the crowd with their big hit I Love It, one of the best club tunes of the past year that had everyone in the room jumping.

If Miley can be commended for one thing, it's starting on time. Unlike others that shall remain nameless, Miley took the stage at the stroke of the scheduled 8:30 p.m.

The creepy cartoon vibe was in full effect, with furry mascots dancing on the stage, Cyrus sliding down an inflatable tongue protruding from her face projected on the giant LCD screen at the back of the square shaped stage.

Clad in a red and white cowboy cabaret style outfit, Miley "strutted her stuff" for SMS before switching to countrified Southern rap of 4X4.

If you weren't sure this show wasn't designed for kids, you just had to spot the "Parental Advisory Explicit Content" logo displayed during the bling-heavy Love Money Party, a song where Cyrus was twerking atop a gold-plated SUV, adorned in a sequined, marijuana-themed unitard.

That said, the feeling was one of self-aware goofiness rather than true shock.

During My Darlin', a trip-hop laced re-invention of Stand By Me, the screen was filled with everything from drug paraphernalia to sex toys, all delivered in cartoonish, lo-fi computer graphics.

And then there was the plain weird stuff: FU, where Cyrus brought at giant Sesame Street style prop and a background filled with psychedelic mushrooms, and Do My Thang, a kaleidoscopic, crotch-grabbing tune that felt like watching a rebellious teenager's Tumblr account come to life.

Musically, little to complain about early on. A solid seven-piece backing band, plenty of tape playback (for samples and guest rap parts) and Cyrus belting her vocals seemingly without the help of pre-recorded material.

Logistically, a well-oiled machine with many moving parts including, at one point, a giant inflatable husky with glowing eyes.

Of course, it being Valentine's Day, Cyrus' performance of Adore You felt especially appropriate, showing a number of couples of all kinda kissing and making out.

If you were still wondering if Cyrus was singing everything herself, this is where weaknesses started to appear. Drive, one requiring Cyrus to really push, showed her faltering in the low parts, while Rooting For My Baby and a jangly acoustic cover of OutKast's Hey Ya veered dangerously close to Stevie Nicks territory (and not good days Stevie Nicks).

Then again, give her Dolly Parton's Jolene and the girl can probably nail it in her sleep. She did Friday night.

Ironically, in spite of all the shock-and-horror (not) of seeing Miley ride an oversized hot dog while clad in a feathery mustard yellow costume, Cyrus' Disney roots are still showing.

The spectacle of the Bangerz tour is essentially a bad trip version of the Disney experience, a seedy underbelly vision of what Disney really sells children.

But here, rather than conveying anything meaningful, it's an amusement park where Miley gets to go on all the rides while everybody else watches her weird trip. And it's rarely really engaging or all that provocative.

We Can't Stop? A youthful call to arms made completely pointless with the foam finger props and a silly kitten animation.

Wrecking Ball? An off-key cherry on top that felt like a missed opportunity.

Too bad.

8 Most Outrageous Moments of Miley Cyrus' ‘Bangerz' Show by Rolling Stone

Pop stars brings big props and bigger vocals to tour opener in Vancouver

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Last night in Vancouver, Canada, Miley Cyrus kicked off her much-hyped Bangerz world tour with both her immense talent and self-deprecation intact. In fact, if you approached the night as a drinking game centered around "famous Miley-isms"– extended tongues, strange singing cat animations, frottage and the like – well, you probably passed out long ago, never to remember the show. Cyrus delivered on the campy, the vampy and an assortment of other cheeky behaviors with a clear aim to distance herself ever further from the land of Hannah Montana. That said, looking past the "shock and awe," Cyrus delivered fantastic vocals all evening long.

1. She looooves gooooooollllld
Available for sale next to the T-shirts and tour books was quite possibly the world's most expensive, mass-produced rolling papers. Official Bangerz rollies were $40 a pack, which included two 24 karat sheets; the perfect gift for those who literally have money to burn.

2. Her entrance was self-mockification, magnified
When the house lights dimmed, all eyes were focused at the back of the stage where a massive 50-foot screen projected a pre-made video of Miley's head, her eyes rolling and her mouth opening and closing, robot-style. Suddenly, out of that video "mouth" fell a massive, inflatable tongue. The actual Miley then emerged from between her own tonsils, and she took a ride to the stage floor via her pink slippery slope, while the audience screams filled the stadium.

3. Although there were multiple fabulous drag queens in the crowd, Queen Miley repeatedly won best-dressed
Designers Roberto Cavalli, Jeremy Scott, the Blonds and Marc Jacobs all made outfits specifically for this tour, and Cyrus also purchased vintage Bob Mackie outfits for the occasion. It was a cavalcade of sparkling onesies, the likes of which are only otherwise seen at world championship skating competitions. And speaking of athletics. . .

4. She may have invented a new Olympic sport: giant hot dog straddling
Cyrus' last song before the encore was a raucous version of "Someone Else," which turned the hockey arena into a giant nightclub. As the beat kicked up a notch, the singer climbed aboard a 20-foot long wiener, which was then raised high above the crowd. Her legs gripped that phallic pony as it carried her halfway across the arena and back again to the stage, to the audience's delight.

5. When she says she loves pot, she means it literally
One of Miley's backup dancers was dressed as a joint, which the singer repeatedly leg-humped during "We Can't Stop," the first of her encore numbers. And if the joint blew out, the rest of her dancers were dressed as giant lighters, just in case. "Always Do-Be Prepared" as stoner Boy Scouts say!

6. Speaking of Boy Scouts. . .
When Miley surprised the crowd by showing up on the opposite side of the venue for the much-anticipated acoustic part of the set, she was dressed solely in a baggy shirt — with her own glittery picture on it – and a backwards ball cap, looking remarkably like Justin Bieber.

7. Her taste in other people's music is quite impressive
During a pre-prepared video interlude, Cyrus was the star of a black and white Madonna-esque "Justify My Love"-style montage. It was the night's most risqué moment; footage showed quick flashes of Miley in various states of undress and bondage while the brilliantly sexy Alt-J track "Fitzpleasure" provided the musical accompaniment. During this aforementioned acoustic set – a section within which she plans to perform a wide variety of cover tunes – Cyrus sang a slowed-down version of Outkast's "Hey Ya!" as well as an inspired cover of her godmother(!) Dolly Parton's tune "Jolene." It was the point in the evening where she appeared to be the most organically inspired and seemed to be having the most fun.

8. Perhaps the evening's most shocking element of all. . .
was the fact that there really wasn't anything jaw-droppingly shocking about the entire night. Cyrus had said in interviews leading up to this tour that she wanted people to go to the show and take her seriously as a vocalist, and it appears that she meant it. Without question, she proved that talent beyond any doubt: unlike many stadium shows, there was no vocal "doubling" (singing along to a track of oneself), and she was only mildly supported by her background vocalists. In fact, Miley's music was front and center for much of the night, and from beginning to end – roughly 100 minutes long – she nailed her vocals throughout the entertaining evening. With barely a twerk to be found, the singer's intended emphasis on her music seems legit; her approach may very well shift some of the attention back on her talents, and away from her infamous tongue.

'Good Luck Charlie' Series Finale Airs Tonight!

Yahoo TV: "It's goodbye, Charlie! After four seasons on the air, Disney Channel's most popular show, "Good Luck Charlie," is coming to an end, and we've got an exclusive clip and some thoughts about the show from its star, Bridgit Mendler.

The finale, titled "Goodbye Charlie," has Mendler's character, Teddy Duncan, headed off to Yale, leaving behind her supersize family, a catalog of video diaries, and (sigh!) her on-and-off boyfriend, Spencer Walsh (Shane Harper).

In the clip below, Teddy makes her last video diary for Charlie.

Here's what the "Good Luck Charlie" star told Yahoo TV about the finale, her offscreen romance with her onscreen love interest, her future plans, and the set item she kept.

On what she'll miss the most about "Good Luck Charlie"

"I think I'll really miss the Duncans," the 21-year-old actress said. "I think the characters and the dynamic that we all developed together was so fun, and by the end it just felt so effortless. It's like you're parting with a person when you leave your character, especially when you're working on something for that long."

On working with baby Charlie

"Mia [Talerico] was the most impressive baby I've ever worked with. It was fun going through all her different stages of babyhood with her."

On dating co-star Shane Harper

"We knew each other for a while, were friends for a long time," Mendler revealed. "And I think it was just one of those things where it kind of gradually turned into more. I think it's great that we knew each other for so long beforehand, so we were really friends."

On being cautious about dating someone she worked with

"I think everybody was very respectful about it and wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be weird to see the relationship going on on the show at the same time. It was wonderful the way that everybody was kind of a family and looked out for each other."

On what's next

"I've been buckling down to work on album number two for the past few months," the multitalented star and Save the Children ambassador said. "I would love to get more acting roles, but for the time being I'm focusing on music."

On other Disney darlings turned gossip staple

"I think it's a really interesting transition time for any young woman," Mendler said when asked about the career paths of former Disney stars Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. "Starting a TV show as a teenager and leaving it as an adult — you kind of enter into the real world after this time that you were in this safe little bubble. I think it's really a gift to do those years through the channel. I applaud those ladies."

A few of Mendler's favorite "Good Luck Charlie" things

Favorite episode: "Battle of the Bands.""I had a lot of friends in that," she said. "I like when there's interesting combinations of people on the show."

Favorite guest star: "I have my natural bias toward my boyfriend," she said with a laugh. "But there've been a lot of special guest stars. I loved having my other friends; Samantha Boscarino was on the show. Raven [Goodwin] was also really special; she was on the show through the entire time. And another really special one was the Muppets."

Favorite moment on the show: "The thing is, it's not one moment," Mendler told us. "The beautiful thing about having a family on set is the constant safety and comfort and joy of knowing and enjoying the people you're with. I think that's kind of the cool thing; it's not about having one special thing, it's every day being together and knowing each other."

Favorite memento from the set: "I got the chair in the living room, the big green and blue one," Mendler dished. "A little piece of the Duncan living room."

Favorite diary tip Teddy gave to Charlie: You'll have to watch the finale to get the answer. 'I don't want to give away what she says in the last video diary," the actress says of her favorite sisterly advice.'"

"Good Luck Charlie" series finale airs tonight, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. on Disney Channel.

Miley Cyrus will be featured on Pharrell's new album "G I R L"

Pharrell Williams is primed to drop his second solo album, G I R L, on March 3, and, according to a newly posted track list, it's going to be a big old reunion for Skateboard P. Yup, the record will include contributions from past collaborators and heavy-hitters including Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk and Alicia Keys.

Noisey posted the track list for Pharrell's new record Friday (February 21), a list replete with girl-referencing titles ("Marilyn Monroe," "Lost Queen," and "It Girl") in keeping with the album's title.

"Women have been so good to me over this entire career and they've done so much for my family," Pharrell told BBC Radio 1 with regard to the title. "Everything I've ever gotten is because they've paid for [it], so they're, like, my bosses — indirectly and directly — you guys are like my bosses. So for me, I wanted to analyze that for a second."

Prior to this announcement, we already knew that the album would include "Despicable Me 2" soundtrack hit and Oscar-nominated jam "Happy." We also could have guessed that it would feature tons of guest stars; his 2006 debut, In My Mind, included appearances by Gwen Stefani, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Charlie Wilson, Pusha T, Nelly and Slim Thug.

G I R L's track list, however, reads like a "This Is Your 2013" for Skateboard P, reprising match-ups with last year's big hitmakers. The only collaborator missing, it seems, is Robin Thicke. Maybe he'll catch P on the remix?

While we're all waiting for more info to leak through the Internets with regard to Pharrell's female-monikered sophomore record, might I suggest putting a bid in on his legendary Grammy hat? It's currently available for the low, low price of $10,500.

See the full track list below:

1. "Marilyn Monroe"
2. "Brand New" (featuring Justin Timberlake)
3. "Hunter"
4. "Gush"
5. "Happy"
6. "Come Get It" (featuring Miley Cyrus)
7. "Dust Of Wind" (featuring Daft Punk)
8. "Lost Queen"
9. "Freq"
10. "I Know Who You Are" (featuring Alicia Keys)
11. "It Girl"

Zendaya on her new single, upcoming Disney projects and more

"She sings, she dances, she acts... multi-talented teen Zendaya is what you'd call a classic triple threat. SheKnows caught up with Carmex's new fashion spokesperson to chat about everything from her "dope" second single to her thoughts on Miley Cyrus.

New York Fashion Week wrapped last Friday, and you might expect the big story from the glossy string of shows would be an up-and-coming designer or a model who stole the spotlight. And you'd be right... but probably not in the way you think.

It was 17-year-old Zendaya Coleman — known simply by her first name nowadays — who commandeered the headlines for strutting super-chic ensembles and looking fierce in the front row at shows for top designers like Jeremy Scott and DKNY.

On fashion
As it turns out, the pretty California native has experience on both sides of the fashion lens.

In a design capacity, Zendaya recently partnered with Diamond Supply Co. to create a custom line of t-shirts available exclusively at Pac Sun. But the fashion-forward star's career credits also include modeling for brands like Macy's and Old Navy in her early teens.

Although her breakthrough role as Rocky Blue in the Disney series Shake It Up cut her modeling career short, Zendaya clearly still carries a torch for the fashion world. "I definitely want to walk the runway one day," she revealed. "I think it would be fun to do something really funky and different, like Jeremy Scott, and then do something totally opposite, like Marc Jacobs or Alexander Wang. I love taking risks with fashion."

For now, though, her dream of catwalking will have to wait, because Zendaya is on the precipice of blowing up in both the acting industry and the music industry.

On TV and film
After Shake It Up ended its several-season run last fall, Zendaya didn't have to wait long before landing another Disney role — two, actually. In addition to being tapped to star in the movie Zapped, rumored to be released later this year, the actress just filmed the pilot for a new Disney series.

"I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to say about it," she laughed. "The name of the show and the character recently changed… I can tell you that much!" And while she's staying relatively mum on the details, Zendaya openly hopes that the show will get picked up.

On music
The rising star readily admits, however, that recording is where her heart resides at the moment."There is so much more I want to do, but music is the priority right now," she explained. Happily, it appears her single-minded determination is paying off.

Her self-titled first album, released in September of last year by Hollywood Records, debuted on the Billboard 200 chart and garnered positive reviews from critics who praised her for her unique "rhythmic pop" sound. It's since gone platinum, and the debut single, "Replay," peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Songs chart.

When asked when her next single might drop, she shared a little insider info. "We have chosen the second single, and we have a video treatment, too," she revealed. "It's going to be so dope — I can't wait to shoot it!" While the second single doesn't yet have a release date, Zendaya hints that it may be soon.

On fame
Which begged the question: How does the talented teen stay grounded in the face of so much success?

Well, as the lyrics go, she gets by with a little help from her friends. Fellow Disney darling and Zendaya's role model, Raven-Symoné, gives her "great advice." She talks to Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy, whom she befriended during her time on Dancing with the Stars, "all the time," asserting, "I am so lucky to have two awesome big brothers thanks to my time on Dancing with the Stars."

Plus, she doesn't buy into the hype. "To stay grounded, I have my family," she said. "I have big brothers and sisters who would kick my butt if I did anything bad, and I also always think about my nieces and nephews who are watching me very closely. I won't do anything that I wouldn't want them to do!"

When pressed about peers like Justin Bieber (who she says she wouldn't mind collaborating with!) and Miley Cyrus who can't seem to stay out of the headlines, Zendaya responds with class and wisdom well beyond her seventeen years. "I would never say anything negative about what they do or the choices they make because, in the end, those are their choices and their lives and I respect them," she stated. "I've chosen my own different path, and I will continue to do what I do."

Her biggest advice to other teens to avoid pitfalls like peer pressure or bullying is to focus on the positive, saying, "I am proud and confident in who I am, so that really overcomes any negativity the world throws my way."

On the future
For Zendaya, who'll turn 18 this September, there's plenty to be positive about. "One of the projects I'm really excited about right now is my partnership with Carmex... I'm the spokesperson for their new Moisture Plus line of lip care, which is such a perfect fit for me because I've always used and loved Carmex," said the fashion buff, who's a major fan of the line's four limited edition designs.

But, above all, the sweet star — whose name means "to give thanks" — is grateful just to be where she is. "There are a lot of things that are hard, but I have to focus on the positive, and I am blessed with good health and a supportive family and great friends.""
