James Ward Byrkit has signed with Alex Manugian to write the screenplay for Paramount’s long-gestating thriller Wake. Wake chronicles the high school life and loves of Janie Hannagan, a teen who has the ability to enter other people’s dreams. This project has been trying to find its form since it was first announced in 2010 that Miley Cyrus would play the lead in the MTV Films-distributed Miley Cyrus New Haircutadaptation of Lisa McMann’s bestselling 2008 novel. Disturbia co-writer Christopher London had been attached to Wake, the first in a young-adult novel trilogy. Lindsay Williams will produce Wake for Gotham and Jodi Zuckerman-Weiner and Cyrus’ production company Hope Town.

The gig marks the second writing collaboration between Byrkit and Manugian. The Rango story co-writer and Manugian, who handled the voice of Spoons in the 2011 animated pic, worked together on the Byrkit-directed Coherence. A winner at last year’s Fantastic Fest, the indie sci-fi thriller was picked up by Oscilloscope Laboratories at AFM in November, with plans to release it theatrically and online this year. Both Byrkit and Manugian are repped by Gotham Group, with Byrkit also repped by Gersh.

Vanessa Hudgens doesn’t unnecessarily worry about what the future holds.
The 25-year-old actress puts up a fearless front and works tirelessly on her career, which includes flicks such as Spring Breakers and Gimme Shelter.
When German magazine Joy suggested she seems like a tough cookie, she admitted there’s one thing that manages to spook her.
“Horror films [scare me]!” she laughed to the publication. “So much! It used to be even worse, but a really creepy film can still chill me to the bone these days.”
One thing she won’t be losing any sleep over is the state of her career.
The pretty brunette lives in the here and now and won’t waste time worrying about what lies in store for her in the future.
“I don’t want to get stressed out for no reason,” she revealed.
“Of course I’m hopeful that I’ll still be working for a while. That’s why I’m always trying out different kinds of roles. Should it come to an end sometime, I’ll have so many amazing memories that I can always carry around with me.”
Vanessa began her career as a Disney star and enjoyed success with High School Musical, where she also met her ex-boyfriend Zac Efron, who she dated between 2005 and 2010.
She might look like a natural, but becoming a star was not something she originally planned.
“At the beginning I was very shy and timid and had very little confidence,” she confessed.
“That only changed over the course of a few years, thanks to all the experiences I had in showbusiness. I became a confident woman, who now does exactly what she wants.”

In case you missed it, Kathy Griffin recently made a dig at Demi Lovato on Twitter, answering a fan's question of, "biggest douche celebrity you've met?" with "Probably Debbie Lovato Plus she should calm the f down bout Lady Gaga gettin barfed on."

The Disney Channel Original Movie stars Zendaya ("Shake it Up") and Spencer Boldman ("Lab Rats"). Emilia McCarthy ("Hemlock Grove"), Chanelle Peloso ("Radio Rebel") & Adam DiMarco ("Radio Rebel") also have roles in the film.

"Miley Cyrus, 21, has been asserting her independence through various means for some time now. She’s cut her hair, lost her pants, ended things with her fiancé and taken off on a wild world tour. And, she says in the May issue of Elle magazine, all this rebelling is starting to pay off.

In an interview with 17-year-old Rookie magazine editor (and fellow widely watched teen) Tavi Gevinson, Cyrus explains that she’s grateful for growing pains in leaving Disney and ending things with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, because it helped her get to where she is today.

“When I was with [Liam] or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn’t there to carry me anymore or if I didn’t have him,” she said. “And now I’m free of both of those things, and I’m fine. Like, I lay in bed at night by myself and I’m totally okay, and that’s so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn’t have a boyfriend.”"




Cyrus also cops to battling depression in her adolescence, saying, “It’s totally okay to feel sad. I went through a time where I was really depressed. Like, I locked myself in my room and my dad had to break my door down. It was a lot to do with, like, I had really bad skin, and I felt really bullied because of that. But I never was depressed because of the way someone else made me feel, I just was depressed.”

Elle's May issue is shaping up to be a must-read; to highlight their Women in Music feature they asked Rookie Mag founder Tavi Gevinson to interview Miley Cyrus about a bunch of intriguing topics.

Cyrus and Gevinson vibe with their views on feminism ("I just want there to be equality for everybody," Cyrus says) and Miley extends it to her experience in the music industry:

"I mean, guy rappers grab their crotch all fucking day and have hos around them, but no one talks about it. But if I grab my crotch and I have hot model bitches around me, I'm degrading women?"




She also talks about the inspiration she gets from her fan base, particularly the LGBT faction:

"I have guys and girls that come out, and they're like, 'The only reason I'm able to admit that I'm gay is because you've made me feel like that's okay' … That gives me a big purpose—a reason to wake up in the morning that's bigger than to put on my fucking feathers and my little outfits."

Even Justin Bieber's hideous hat choices can't keep Selena Gomez away -- the two got up close and personal at Coachella this weekend, despite the fact that Bieber was literally dressed like a newborn baby at the beach.

Wearing sunglasses and a bonnet, Bieber stood beside Gomez during Jhene Aiko's set on Sunday -- and we're told they were hanging together all day. At one point, we're told Selena was sitting on Justin's lap.

"Doctors ordered Miley Cyrus to stay in a Kansas City hospital a second day after she suffered "a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics," the singer tweeted Wednesday.

"Im so sorry but somethings are outta my control,"Cyrus said in a tweet apparently sent from her hospital bed Wednesday.

Cyrus, 21, told fans she would have to cancel her "Bangerz" tour concert at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis set for Wednesday night.

"I can't get a hold of my team because it is so early so I want to be the one to tell my fans especially the ones trekking to get there(tbc)"one tweet said.

Cyrus also tweeted what appeared to be a reaction to reports that her hospitalization was related to something other than her recent bout with the flu. "humans can b so selfish. if any1 thinks id rather b layin n a hospital bed than doing what i love on stage theyre f--kin LAME. Miserable"

Her Tuesday night concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri, was canceled when she was hospitalized that afternoon, according to a statement from the arena.

"Cyrus has been hospitalized for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics and has been placed on medical rest by her doctors," the statement said. "She will not be able to perform as scheduled."

"Kansas I promise Im as (heartbroken) as you are. I wanted so badly 2 b there 2night. Not being with yall makes me feel s--ttier than I already do," she wrote in a Twitter message to fans Tuesday afternoon.
"Mr. Octopussy & some amazing Drs are taking good care of me,"Cyrus wrote in tweet that included a photo of her in a hospital bed wearing a gown.She was holding a green octopus toy in front of her face.
Cyrus fell ill with the flu earlier this month, causing the cancellation of a concert in Charlotte, North Carolina."

"Selena Gomez has found a new representation team. After she relieved her mother and stepfather of their managerial duties in early March, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the actress and singer, who previously was with CAA, has signed with WME as well as Brillstein for management.

The rep changes are a crucial piece of the Disney alum's strategy, long in the works, to move on into more adult-oriented fare in film and music. After getting her start on the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place, Gomez recently starred in Harmony Korine's girls-gone-wild crime drama Spring Breakers, and as a mysterious street urchin in the action thriller Getaway, opposite Ethan Hawke.

Gomez, 21, recently completed shooting on the comedy Behaving Badly opposite Nat Wolff and Mary-Louise Parker and appeared opposite Billy Crudup in the musical dramedy Rudderless, William H. Macy's directorial debut. Her other screen credits include Hotel Transylvania and Monte Carlo.
