Miley Cyrus & Britney Spears talk dance moves on twitter

0

"Now THAT'S a video we'd want to see! Pop princesses Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears showed each other some (digital) love via Twitter on Thursday, June 20, just one day after the Cyrus released the outrageous video for her new single "We Can't Stop" online.

"Loving your new video for #WeCantStop!" veteran performer Spears tweeted at her fellow former Disney star. "Maybe you can teach me how to twerk sometime LOL." The 31-year-old singer added a winky face to her message.

Cyrus, 20, couldn't resist responding to Spears with a similarly cheeky tweet.

"We could twerk it out in exchange for u teaching me da moves 2 'slave for you' (I've been practicing for the past 10 years," she replied.

Spears' steamy music video for dance track "I'm a Slave 4 U" raised eyebrows when it first premiered in 2001. In the now-iconic video, Spears donned a skin-tight, belly-baring top and cavorted with several other sweaty dancers in what looked to be an abandoned warehouse.

The singer further made headlines at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards when she performed the single onstage with several exotic animals, including a large white tiger and a giant Burmese python.

Cyrus' recent much-talked about video is similarly getting tongues wagging over the former child star's grown-up antics. In the surreal video, Cyrus at times grinds on top of a bed, shakes her butt like she's "at a strip club" and makes out with a life-size Barbie version of herself.

At another point in the video, Cyrus busts open a pinnate filled with hot dogs and wrestles a female friend.

"Everyone always judges and says what they want, but my fans … have really stood by me no matter what I've been through … and this is a song that says where I'm at my life right now," she told Ryan Seacrest in a June 3 radio interview. "My record is like a movie. It's a story of what I've been going through the past two years."

Taylor Swift & Selena Gomez hanging out in New England

"Taylor Swift bought a beachfront mansion in Watch Hill, Rhode Island this past April, and has already played host to famous friends including Lena Dunham, Jessica Szohr, Hailee Steinfeld and Ed Sheeran. The latest celebrity guest? Selena Gomez.

Gomez flew into Boston on Thursday evening and was greeted at the airport by Swift. The pair made a late-night stop at Chilli's in Dedham, Mass., en route to Rhode Island.

On Friday, Swift and Gomez embarked on a culinary tour of New England. They enjoyed breakfast at The Cooked Goose in Watch Hill, before travelling to the nearby seaport of Mystic, CT. The pair lunched at Mystic Pizza, a restaurant made famous by the 1988 Julia Roberts film of the same name.

Their final stop was for Mint Oreo waffle cones at Mystic's Drawbridge Ice Cream. A staff member found them "very nice, and very polite and friendly", adding that Swift paid for the two cones by credit card.

Swift later posted a video to Vine of herself and Gomez toasting the first official day of summer with their waffle cones."

Harmony Korine to remix 'Spring Breakers'

"Harmony Korine has revealed that he is creating a 'remix' of his movie Spring Breakers.

The director explained that he will put out an alternate version using footage entirely different from the original cut.

"I had this idea," Korine told the Los Angeles Times. "With music remixes sometimes, when certain producers take a song and chop them up and deconstruct them - why not try that with a feature film? Using all different footage, making the same film all over again."

When asked whether he would be seeking the assistance of other filmmakers for the novel project, he replied: "I'm working with different people. Maybe that's a surprise. Let's just say for right now there'll be a whole alternate film at some point. Maybe on the DVD, maybe on iTunes."

Korine added: "It'll be the first chopped and screwed movie."

The US Blu-ray and DVD of the film - released by Lionsgate Home Entertainment on July 9 - does not list a remix in its promotional material.

Spring Breakers - about a group of college students who commit a robbery to fund a vacation - stars James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.

'Monsters U' is the Weekend Box-Office Winner!

0
0

The two new films, Monster's U & World War Z, coming in No. 1 and No. 2, help fuel one of the best weekends in history in terms of box office revenue; "Man of Steel" nears $400 million worldwide, although it falls more than expected domestically.

Disney and Pixar's long-awaited sequel Monsters University opened to a sizzling $82 million, the No. 2 Pixar opening of all time after Toy Story 3 ($110 million). Overseas, Monsters U took in an early $54.5 million from 35 markets for a worldwide debut of $136.5 million.

Brad Pitt zombie pic World War Z, from Paramount, also overperformed in opening to $66 million, the top launch for an original live-action tentpole since Avatar. It also marks Pitt's largest opening domestically, easily outpacing the $50.3 million launch of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in summer 2005. Internationally, World War Z debuted to $45.8 million from its first 25 markets for a worldwide total of $111.8 million.

The might of Monsters U, directed by Dan Scanlon, continues Pixar's winning streak at the box office and marks the 14th Pixar title to open to No. 1. The sequel returns Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and Frank Oz in the roles of Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan, Randall Boggs, and Jeff Fungus, respectively.
"The consistency of the quality that comes from Pixar and John Lasseter and his team is extraordinary""This movie had to live up to a very had to live up to a very high bar, and it did," said Disney executive vice president of distribution Dave Hollis, also noting that the animated tentpole did strong nighttime business in a sign that adults were turning out in addition to families.
One downer -- onlyl 31 percent of the revenues came from 3D screens.

Monsters U will have plenty of competition in the coming weeks as a record number of 3D summer toons open at the North American, but a glowing A CinemaScore should help fuel word of mouth.
Overseas, the 2013 summer animation war began over the weekend in Australia, where Monsters U debuted opposite University's Despicable Me 2 in advance of the winter holidays. Despicable 2 was the victor, grossing $4.3 million. Combined with previews, the toon has earned a total of $6.4 million. Monsters U took in $3.5 million.

Disney does it again!

Turns out zombies and Superman are no match for monsters.

Demi talks about enjoying the female-dominated X-Factor panel

0
0

"Good looking guys may have an advantage at auditions for season 3 of The X Factor.

"Basically, if you're a male with at least one leg, you've got a really good chance of going through with these three," Simon Cowell says of his new panel, which includes returning judge Demi Lovato and new additions Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio.

Cowell's female costars looked friendly and united on stage, taking photos together and chatting when the cameras stopped rolling during auditions at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., on Thursday.

"It's a lot of fun being on a panel with two other women," Lovato, 20, says. "It's kind of like a bachelorette party when there's a cute guy that walks on stage. We're all on one side like, 'He's so cute!' and [Simon]'s [has] his arms crossed all mad and jealous."

Case in point: the women banded together behind the first performer of the day, an attractive personal trainer who sang Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." Cowell found the performance lackluster but the women were thrilled with the contestant, ogling him before and after his song and even asking to see his abs.

"We're having so much fun," says Rubio, 42, who's been affectionately nicknamed "Pau Pau" by Lovato. "And on top of everything else, we're discovering great talent."

Jokes and disagreements aside, Cowell is happy with The X Factor's new vibe. "These shows have lacked warmth, focus. It's become about judges arguing and this and that," he said. "Where these girls can be fantastic is when they are totally focused on the contestant. So we're in a different world right now – this has been a good thing."

Still, some things never change: "It's three women up here and we’re supposed to be the divas," Rowland, 32, says, "but [Simon] is a diva.""

Demi Lovato Preps 'Made In The USA' Single

"Heart Attack" follow-up will be worked to radio beginning later this week.

With Demi Lovato's hit single "Heart Attack" beginning to ever-so-slightly dip on the Hot 100 chart -- the track tumbled from No. 20 to 26 on last week's chart, after downgrading from No. 15 to 20 a week earlier -- the pop star has officially set "Made In The USA" as the second single to her fourth studio album, "Demi."

"Made In The USA" will hit Top 40 radio on June 27, on the same day that Lovato will appear and perform on "Good Morning America" as part of their Summer Concert series. One week later, the singer will play the annual Philly 4th of July Jam alongside John Mayer, the Roots, Jill Scott and more.

Although the "Made In The USA" music video has not been given an unveiling date yet, Lovato co-directed the clip, which apparently includes "some special surprise actors," according to a press release.

"Heart Attack" became Lovato's second Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 chart (following "Skyscraper" in 2011), and is now the second biggest-selling single of her career, accruing 1.5 million downloads to date according to Nielsen SoundScan ("Give Your Heart a Break" still leads with 1.9 million downloads). After debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart last month, "Demi" has sold 178,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"With my album this time, I wanted to go into it keeping in mind that I want to listen to stuff on the radio that I can relate to," Lovato told Billboard last month in an extended Q&A. "I think the reason why artists like Adele and Taylor Swift are so relatable is because they talk about their experiences and pour it out in their songs. There's a lot more to their music than just partying and going out."

"Made In The USA" is an uptempo, red-white-and-blue-tinged celebration of everlasting love, and a fine choice for a follow-up single -- although we can't wait for the "Demi" standout "Something That We're Not" to be worked as a single one of these days. What do you think of "Made In The USA"? Share your thoughts below.

Demi Lovato thanks fans and loved ones for support after her father dies

Demi Lovato has a message for fans and loved ones after the death of her father, Patrick Lovato, at 54.

"I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers. God bless you all, thank you so much," the singer, 20, Tweeted on Sunday.

Her 25-year-old sister, Dallas Lovato, Tweeted, "Rest in peace daddy I love you," on Saturday.

Demi missed a photo call for The X Factor over the weekend. Show creator and fellow judge Simon Cowell expressed his own support on Twitter: "My thoughts are with you Demi," he wrote.

Patrick Lovato and Demi's mother Dianna De La Garza divorced in 1994. Demi's song "For the Love of a Daughter" from her 2011 album Unbroken reflects her strained relationship with her dad. In the song, she sings, "How could you push me out of your world, lie to your flesh and your blood, put your hands on the ones that you swore you loved?"

In 2009, Lovato told New York's Daily News why she cut ties with her father.

"The last time I talked to him was two years ago," she said. "You try to have faith in somebody, even when you're the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you've been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don't know what to do."
